+ Engage youth ages 13 – 22 in enriching, high quality, affordable programs that broaden their creative, personal, and professional competencies.
+ Offer youth increased opportunities for positive use of time, positive self- expression and participation in community development.
+ Provide meaningful interactions with at least one adult other than the child’s parent/guardian, school teacher or ecumenical leader.
+ Curate experiences that bring together youth from diverse communities and schools to create, collaborate and present thoughtful work.
+ Facilitate workshops with professional working artists, master teachers and professionals from a range of disciplines.
+ Collaborate with partner organizations to complement or implement new initiatives and events that bring people together around Hip Hop’s principles of peace, love, unity and safely having fun.
+ Serve as a resource/liaison for individuals, organizations and businesses to connect within and beyond the Hip Hop community.
+ Consult and advise on initiatives that incorporate the elements of Hip Hop.
+ Teach practical skills, strategies and competencies that help groups explore/process feelings, cope with trauma, reconcile emotional disturbance, reduce anxiety, manage maladaptive behaviors, and develop interpersonal skill in therapeutic settings.
+ Reinforce pro-social behaviors and life management skills through critical evaluation of issues related to client self-concept and interaction with an element of the social environment (peers, family, strangers, colleagues, etc.)
+ Foster greater self-awareness, progress evaluation, goal attainment, talent and skill development and overall well-being aligned with client individual treatment plan (ITP).
+ Facilitators teach art skills, creative process and product generation in therapeutic settings.
+ Convene panels and roundtables to introduce and facilitate exchange of ideas around Hip Hop’s principles of peace, love, unity and safely having fun.
+ Collect and make accessible the historical artifacts of Hip Hop culture and ensure their preservation for future generations.
+ The Collection features vinyl recordings, CDs, film and video, books, photographs, magazines, books, apparel and more.
