The Center for Literature & Theatre @MDC join us to present a hands-on experience with Vanessa Hidary. The workshop will begin with Vanessa performing some of her signature poems and short stories dealing with identity, women, race relations and bullying. Following her performance we will open up a discussion to the group, to discuss some of the issues that came up in the work. After this the group will be given writing prompts to write their own spoken word piece, with the opportunity to read the piece in front of the group, and receive feedback and performance tips.
